Border Country Sports Bennington Martens Players of the Week

We are a few weeks into the 2021-2022 high school sports season and action is heating up on both sides of the border. It is time once again time to announce the Border Country Sports Bennington Martens Players of the Week. The POTWs are brought to you by Bennington Martens basketball. Visiti their website to see the schedule for the second part of the season beginning in January.

-The Player of the Week on the girls side this week comes from Proctor Phantoms girls basketball. Whether it is on the basketball hardwood or the soccer pitch Proctor's Maggie McKearin can flat out score. This week McKearin led the Phantoms to a 60-48 win over arch rival West Rutland.

Against the Golden Horde McKearin poured in 35 points. McKearin nailed a trio of 3-pointers and was 14 of 18 from the free throw line.

McKearin also had a 17 point game in a loss to White River Valley.

Congratulations Maggie!

-The Player of the Week for the boys this week comes from the New York side of the border. Cameron Orr of Lake George has led his Warriors's team to an unbeaten start in Adirondack League play. Orr is a senior captain for Lake George and is one of the most experienced and talented players in the league. He began his week by helping his team to a 3-0 start in the ADK with a 24 point night against Whitehall. Orr knocked down four 3-pointers in the game.

On Friday Orr scored 25 points in a dominating win for Lake George over Fort Edward. Orr also handed out four assists in the contest.

Congratulations Cameron!

A huge thanks to our POTW sponsor Bennington Martens basketball. Head to Rutland to Heritage Family Field House soon to catch a game from our own local professional basketball team. The Martens return to action at home on January 9th against the Providence Pirates.
