Good Morning! With the Border Country Sports Report, I'm Keith Harrington.


Slaters Serve Notice in Division III


Fair Haven opened their season in girls soccer and served notice to other teams in Division III. We're here! The Slaters are in their first season of dropping down a level and they made the debut an impressive one as the rolled over Green Mountain 8-0.


Fair Haven has nearly everyone back from a team that was a contender in Division II last season and showed that they are a serious threat in their new division.


Lily Briggs led the Slater assault with three goals and a pair of helpers.


Maddy Perry added two goals for Fair Haven. Brittney Love scored off a header with her sister Elizabeth providing the assist. Ayame Merkel and Clara Young also tickled the twine for Fair Haven.


Kate Hadwen recorded the shutout in goal.


Luna Burkland had 27 saves for the Chieftains.


Fair Haven fired off an incredible 42 shots.


Fair Haven is 1-0. Green Mountain is 1-2.

Poultney Opens With Shutout Win


The Poultney girls soccer team opened their season in impressive fashion on the road as they shutout Long Trail 4-0.


Hannah Welch led the Blue Devils with two goals. Kait DeBonis and Annie Taylor also scored.


DeBonis, Emma Kelley, and Kaydyn L'Esperance contributed assists.


Kenzie Ezzo earned the shutout in goal. Hailey Hayes played a strong game on the backline.


Poultney is 1-0 on the season. Long Trail is 1-1.

Argyle Edges Cardinals in OT


Argyle picked up a huge early season victory as they edged Fort Ann 1-0 in overtime in Adirondack League girls soccer.


Connor Brockway recorded the only goal of the contest, finding the back of the net five minutes into the second extra session to hand the Scots the win.


Andrew Fish earned the shuutout in goal for Argyle with eight saves.


Dylan Brown had four saves for Fort Ann.

Warriors Roll to Win Over Scots


Two Adirondack League powers opened the season against each other in Adirondack League volleyball as Lake George rolled over Argyle 3-0 in a battle of annual contenders.


Set scores were 25-7, 25-8 and 25-13.


Shannon Starratt had 23 assists and six digs to lead Lake George. Ella Fox also has a strong match with 12 kills and eight digs.


Angelina Minnear had five kills. Evelyn Burke chipped in eight kills and six digs.


For the Scots, Emilie Wood had five kills. Carrie Humiston added six assists and Kylee Humiston six digs.


Lake George is 1-0. Argyle is 0-1.
