Fort Ann Girl's Soccer Opens With a Win


Fort Ann looked to be in solid early season form as they opened the girl's soccer season with a 7-0 non-league win over Hudson Falls.


The Cardinals jumped out to a 4-0 lead at halftime, and then tacked on three second half goals to cruise to the victory.


Angel Aratare recorded a hat trick to lead Fort Ann. Aratare scored the first two goals of the contest and added another to begin the third.


Olivia Winchell added a pair of goals. Brooke Wright and Paige Trzaskos also hit the back of the net for the Cardinals.


Winchell picked up a trio of assists. Cherokee Steves also had a helper.


8th grader Baylee Wright had the shutout in goal.


Maddie Freebern, Marissa Lunt, Riley Echendia, Addison Burch and Ella Gadway played strong games on defense.


Katie Mitchell had 10 saves for Hudson Falls.


Fort Ann is 1-0. Hudson Falls is 0-1.

College Soccer Saturday at Applejack Field in Manchester


If you are looking for some sports entertainment for Saturday and are a soccer fan, heading to Applejack Field in Manchester may be a good option. Two of the best Division III women's college soccer teams in the country will be going at it in a preseason contest.


Nationaolly ranked Middlebury and Williams will take to the pitch of Applejack Saturday at noon. Both teams play in the NESCAC, arguably the best Division III women's soccer conference in the country.


Middlebury is ranked numer one in the country in the preseason poll. Williams is ranked 10th.
