Adirondack League cross country coaches such as Hartford's Andrew Capone saw the opportunity for their athletes to run in the Greenwich Invitational at Saratoga Springs State Park as a trial run. A dress rehearsal of sorts. The Section II championships will be run over the same course on Friday, November 5th.
"I look at this as a practice run over the course for sectionals," Capone said.
Capone's Tanagers along with Argyle, Corinth and North Warren all competed in the meet on Friday.
The ADK girls had an especially solid performance. Two runners from the league finished in the top 10.
Argyle's Alyssa Freeguard came home 7th with a time of 21:00 even. Hartford's Brynn Tyler was right on her heels, placing ninth with a time of 21:07.
Both Freeguard and Tyler should be strong contenders at next week's Adirondack League championships.
Lillian San Antonio of North Warren-Johnsburg-Minerva was 23rd. Her teammate Kara Tucker was 25th.
Argyle's Erica Sialunski was 36th, and the Scot's Sage Frank 45th.
On the boys side the highest Adirondack League finisher was Hayden Sirchia of Corinth who came across the line 20th with a time of 18:12.
David Anderson of North Warren-Johnsburg-Minerva was 23rd with a time of 18:29.
Other ADK top 50 finishers were Gage Morris (NJM) in 29th, Logan Reynolds (Hart) in 31st and Hartford's Bryton Mandigo in 44th.
